~Part of the Year 2007 Police Pursuit Series~
On August 3, 1995, Patrolman Lee E. Barta of the Binghamton, NY Police Department
was shot to death in the line of duty. Lee left behind two children and an
expectant wife...
Since that tragic day, the community has come together with the City of Binghamton, the Binghamton Police Benevolent Association and area businesses to keep Lee's memory alive in the hearts and minds of the people he died serving. The Lee E. Barta 5K Remembrance Run is now in its eleventh year. Last year attracted over 275 entrants from across the country, and more than 2,000 spectators. It just keeps getting better!
